CAREER

Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Lovato started her career at 10 years old appearing on Barney and Friends and other television series. After Barney and Friends in 2007, she began acting on Disney channel. She starred in the movies Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. In 2008 she filmed the Disney Channel Original Movie, Princess Protection Program with Selena Gomez. In 2009 she starred in her own series Sonny with a Chance that was one of the most popular films until 2011.
In 2012 Lovato joined The X Factor during the second season. In 2013 she continued her acting career appearing on shows Glee and From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series in 2015. Also in 2015 she appeared as a guest judge on Rupaul’s Drag Race and Project Runway and The voice of Germany in 2017. In 2020 Lovato was tapped to perform at the Grammy Awards and sing the national anthem at Super Bowl LIV.

In 2008 Lovato released her first album, Don’t Forget this quickly became No. 2 on the Billboard 200. She went on tour with the Jonas Brothers as the opening act. In 2009 she released her second album Here We Go Again. This album reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2011 she released the album Unbroken, which her popular song “Skyscraper” was on. In 2015 she released a new single “Cool for the Summer” from her album Confident. This single reached No. 11 on the Hot 100 and the album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Her next album was Tell me you Love Me in 2017.

MENTAL HEALTH AND PERSONAL LIFE

Lovato has battled with substance abuse, eating disorders, self-harm and bipolar disorder. In 2018 she released her single “Sober” bringing light to her battle with addiction. She also came out with a documentary in 2017 Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated released after her album Tell Me You Love Me. She is an advocate for mental health awareness, LGBTQ+ Rights, Women, Anti gun violence, Body positivity, and Black Lives Matter on many platforms with many groups.
